MERRY CHRISTMAS!

My girls are on their way down from Seattle; to spend Christmas day with them is my idea of perfection. Christmas is about family.
But families, extended families, come in different configurations. This is the family with whom I’ve spent the last nine Christmas Eves, the Sanctuary Choir of Lake Grove Presbyterian Church. Aged from the twenties to the eighties, of all political persuasions, we’re ninety seriously disparate personalities…coalesced around a love of music and a love of God.
Which is my Christmas thought. Relationships - families - aren’t built around our individual diversity, but on embracing those things we share. May we all in 2008 seek first common ground everyone with whom we come in contact; it’s amazing how much more can then be accomplished.
Merry Christmas!
UPDATE:
This is Portland. Less than 1% chance of a white Christmas. But:
…and still coming down.
I, of course, will see it as a wonderful omen as soon as the girls arrive…
